Wind Barriers Panacor WB

The Panacor Wind Barrier is designed to reduce wind speed in high-wind areas such as bridges and highways, ensuring vehicle stability, safe, and comfortable driving experience. These wind barriers, also known as wind fences, are designed to effectively mitigate the impact of high winds by dispersing the airflow and absorbing most of the wind load. Proper management of the design, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes is essential, with static calculations playing a key role in the design phase.

To evaluate the windshield protection efficiency and enhance traffic safety, a characteristic cross-section of each bridge is analyzed. The analysis accounts for wind speeds of up to 180 km/h (50 m/s), the maximum speed at which limited traffic of personal vehicles can be maintained. Simulations assess the impact of wind on protected and unprotected bridges, leading to the optimal design of wind barriers, including specific heights and the precise number of corrugated lamellas made of UV-resistant acrylic glass.

Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for wind directions of 0° and ±6°, and adhering to European norms (EN 1794-1 / 1794-2), we design, construct, and supply various types of wind barriers. For example, a typical protective wind fence may be 3.20 meters high with seven convex acrylic elements, spaced 125 to 175 mm apart. These elements are supported by steel columns placed 3.0 meters apart and are reinforced with polyamide threads or stainless steel rods to withstand shock loads. Special bearings with EPDM rubber bands enable temperature stretching and vibration dampening, ensuring the wind barrier’s flexibility and durability.

Acrylic elements, made from PMMA and reinforced with polyamide threads or stainless steel rods, undergo real-scale fatigue testing to ensure a 30-year lifespan. These elements offer exceptional weather resistance, high transparency, and lightweight properties. The wind barrier structure, fabricated from steel grade S355 with hot-dip galvanized protection, provides long-term durability and corrosion resistance in compliance with ISO 12944-5 standards. In high-corrosivity environments, an additional double anti-corrosion protection system is applied

Panacor provides a full range of services, including all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for producing wind barriers. This includes steel anchor plates, rubber seals, and corrosion protection. We ensure quality execution, control, and calculations in accordance with our Program of Control and Quality Assurance.
